The State of Maryland has released the 2024 local tax rates for individual taxpayers.

The Maryland local income tax rates remain unchanged from 2023 with the exceptions of Cecil County, Anne Arundel County, and Frederick County, as follows: 

Cecil County:  the 2024 rate is 2.75% down from the 2023 rate of 2.8%.

For Anne Arundel & Frederick Counties, new levels have been added to their graduated tax scales:

1.   Anne Arundel County local income tax rates will be as follows for 2024:

For taxpayers with a filing status of single, married filing separately or dependent:

a.   2.70% with Maryland taxable income of $1 through $50,000

b.   2.81% with Maryland taxable income of $50,001 through $400,000; and

c.   3.20% with Maryland taxable income of over $400,000

For taxpayers with a filing status of married filing jointly, head of household or qualified

surviving spouse:

a.   2.70% with Maryland taxable income of $1 through $75,000

b.   2.81% with Maryland taxable income of $75,001 through $480,000; and

c.   3.20% with Maryland taxable income of over $480,000

2.    Frederick County local income tax rates will be as follows for 2024:

For taxpayers with a filing status of single, married filing separately or dependent:

  a.   2.25% with Maryland net taxable income of $1 through $25,000

b.   2.75% with Maryland net taxable income of $25,001 through $50,000

c.   2.96% with Maryland net taxable income of $50,001 through $150,000; and

d.   3.20% with Maryland net taxable income of $150,001 or more

For taxpayers with a filing status of married filing jointly, head of household or qualified

surviving spouse:

a.   2.25% with Maryland net taxable income of $1 through $25,000

b.   2.75% with Maryland net taxable income of $25,001 through $100,000

c.   2.96% with Maryland net taxable income of $100,001 through $250,000; and

d.   3.20% with Maryland net taxable income of $250,001 or more
